[Drama Recap] The Girl Who Sees Smells: Episode 14

While Choi Mu Gak (Park Yoo Chun) goes down stairs to find Yeum Mi (Yoon Jin seo), detective Ki (Jo Hee Bong) and detective Yeh (Choi Tae Joon) hold a gun on Gwon Jae Hee (Nam Goong Min).
"I know you mistook her for me. Where is she?" Oh Cho Rim (Shin Se Kyung) shouts with tears in her eyes.
I'm sorry to hear that. I thought I was on friendly terms with you. I'm not feeling well today." he grins evilly.

Yeom Mi looks Mu Gak peeping in at the study on a screen placed in the secret room where she is locked in. She shouts for help banging her fist against the wall, but sadly, he doesn't hear the sound due to perfect soundproofing.

After the detectives got back to the police station without producing any result, the chef opens the wall behind the study.
"Are you disappointed because I am here? It ill becomes you to bring not Cho Rim but me. You made a huge mistake unlike you." she calmly says.
"It's not that bad." he answers.
"Am I locked in the room behind the study?" she asks.
"Nobody cannot hear however much you raise the voice. I will give you something you have to do from now. Writes a book about your whole life for me for six days, and omit nothing." he states.
"Have you made all victims do this and craved barcodes on their wrist? You got vicarious satisfaction being parasitic in dead persons' life which you've been never lived." she adds.
He doesn't answer her question and glares at her fiercely, "I will kill you even if you cry for help. I will kill you even if you provoke sympathy. And I will kill you now if you refuse to write the book."      

Mu Gak got an information from one of Cho Rim's high school friend about the man who did the friends a favor on the day of the meeting. He brings an old homeless who ate the Chinese dish with the disguised suspect to the chef's restaurant, but the old man doesn't recognize the young man.  

On the third day after the disappearance...
The serial killer asks her to write in detail why she decided to be a policeman when she was in high school saying he wants to find out more about her dream. He is on the point of leaving the room, she drops a pen and coats perfume inside the necklace over it without him being aware of it. She takes the murderer by the hand all of a sudden and demands an clock giving an excuse it will helpful for her efficient writing.  

Cho Rim shows up alone in front of the chef having fan sign meeting and pleads with him, "Don't kill her. Please take me instead of her."
But he turns a dead ear to her entreaties. She sees the smells of the perfume when he hands a signed recipe book to her. At the moment Mu Gak suddenly appeared throws a wastebasket at him and gives him a strict warning, "I will get you at any cost!"

The young detective gives the girl who nearly fell into another danger a good scolding. 

"I saw the smell of the perfume I gifted to her on his hand. It's her message that she is all right. I have to go to save her. I cannot live with myself if another person will be killed because of me. Your sister already died due to me. What should I do?" she sheds big drops of tears and he hugs her warmly with tears in his eyes.    

Jae Hee stares at Yeom Mi drinking coffee without doubt. She tries to appear calm and understand the mentality of the psychopath. The profiler comes to an conclusion that he gives validity to the homicide telling himself there is no reason to murder. 

On the fourth day after the disappearance...

Cho Rim pays a visit to Jae Hee to ask him to take her instead of the female detective. But he puts on a poker face again.  

The murderer tells Yeom Mi about the story of Cho Rim, "I was so impressed. Is that so-called friendship?"

"That is the thing that is new to you. You will never know." she sneers at him.

Meanwhile, detectives agree to Cho Rim's opinion to use her for bait to discover a secret passage leading to the hidden room.   

Yeom Mi tries to do a profile on him. He reacts angrily under the provocation and advances three hours to pull the trigger because of her wrong answer to his question. The profiler pretended to the chef that everything was fine cannot hide her feeling as he left.    

On the fifth day after the disappearance...

Cho Rim gets an text message from Jae Hee to want her to come to a subway station. Yeom Mi offers him to let her ask three questions of killing her three hours earlier. She provokes Jae Hee again saying he craves the barcode on the victim's wrist because he doesn't recognize their faces. But he walks away leisurely through the door after notify she will be dead three hours earlier tomorrow.

Six hours ago scheduled to the murder...

Cho Rim takes a mobile phone out of a locker in the subway station according to the killer's instructions on the phone. She starts to run at top speed to the Sports Complex. Mu Gak watches her secretly from a distance, but he cannot find out the criminal.

Detective Ki and detective Yeh also watch the girl standing in front of the Complex. The murderer gives direction to her again come to the Happiness Park. She applies her nose to a gauze soaked with anaesthetic and put herself to sleep.       

As soon as she falls senseless, the man in black hoodie approaches to her. Ki an Yeh catch his napping and install a tracking device in his car and spray some air freshener on pedal of the vehicle. 

Before he kidnaps the sleeping girl, a disguised detective as a citizen comes running, "I saw her fell down all of a sudden. Please call 911."

Jae Hee hurries off the place lest he should be found out and comes back home through the secret path. 

Two hours ago scheduled to the murder...

The awaken girl and detectives arrives the place where the criminal parked his car using the tracking device. Cho Rim sees the smells on the chef's footprints. Before she finds the entrance, rain starts to pour down. Cho Rim, who cannot see the smell in the rain, is discourage because it is getting hard.

Jae Hee is not happy with the book she wrote because it is too short and lacks sincerity. He suggests her that he will extend time if she will show her good faith. But she angers him again saying she didn't write about her real life, "Do you really think the other victims honestly wrote about their life? Cut the funny stuff! Did a shaman you killed tell you she left her child because she fell in love with another man? You have killed people because of things I can get from a case report easily, haven't you?"
His eyes darken at the words, "Don't lie to me. People are honest before they died."
"You are so pitiful." she is sarcastic.
"Don't look to me for pity. I've got their life. I killed them after I took their life which nobody knows." he shouts with an angry voice.
"No. You know now. You lost the game." she pushes him.
"I will see that you will be in very high spirits in two hours." he leaves the room.
The psychopath prints her barcode. She tries to provoke him continuously, but he finds a peace of mind.

Two hours ago scheduled to the murder...

The detectives and Cho Rim go to a coffee shop near the place as it rains still hard. Mu Gak, who luckily had an idea from a little girl's unseen picture, go back to the place with the others to cover the wet ground to let Cho Rim to see the smells well.
The girl with sixth sense finally discovers the exit of the secret passage.

The killer prepares a kit to crave the barcode and releases anaesthetic gas into the air in the white room to make her not to breath for herself. She is on the verge of dying when Mu Gak and detective Yeh break the door open. Jae Hee is obviously flustered, but the killer put his head to the gun as the barcode victim's brother points a gun at him behind the glass wall.
