[Drama Recap] EXO Next Door: Episode 11

D.O is bandaging Yeon Hee’s fingers and is having her raise both her arms in the air. He asks her if he can be the guy she likes the most, but before Yeon Hee even has a chance to create a response, Chanyeol enters the room from upstairs. Yeon Hee immediately puts her arms down. Both D.O. and Yeon Hee turn to look at him.

Before anyone says anything, D.O. immediately starts reciting his lines from his script where he tells her to look at him and look into his eyes. He motions for Yeon Hee to start reciting her lines. She starts reciting her lines of “Don’t come any closer…” but then is unable to remember any more of the lines. Chanyeol then questions if the two of them are rehearsing and D.O. says yes before telling Yeon Hee that they are done for the day and to be sure to help him out next time.

Chanyeol asks D.O. if he was up filming all last night and Yeon Hee stands up from the couch to ask Chanyeol how he is doing or if he is feeling better. Chanyeol tells her to go to work if that’s what she came for, and she leaves the room to get to work. D.O. tries to start to explain by saying that he can’t get into character if he does his lines with a guy, but Chanyeol just tells D.O. that he’s been up all night so D.O. should go to bed.

Yeon Hee is at home hugging a cute plushie trying to reflect on what just happened. She comes to the conclusion that she has become D.O.’s permanent acting partner. Meanwhile, Chanyeol is in his room playing the guitar. He thinks back to his childhood when he approached a little girl who was crying because she got her teddy bear taken from her. He then tells her he’ll get it back for her from the person who took it. The little girl’s face turns a bright shade of red.

Later on, as little Chanyeol is on the monkey bars, the same little girl approaches him to thank him for getting her teddy bear back for her and gives him a drawing that she drew of him. They both smile at each other. Back to present day, Chanyeol still has that same drawing and is wondering if Yeon Hee is pretending not to know him or if she is just dense, since that little girl from his childhood was Yeon Hee.

He then thinks back to when he asked her if she knew who he was more recently, but she only associated him with EXO and gave no impression that she knew him from before. Chanyeol wonders how she could not recognize him. Looking at a picture of him and his grandpa, he also wonders where exactly that picture was taken.

Meanwhile, D.O. and Yeon Hee are in the same room and are awkwardly avoiding contact with each other while sneaking glances at each other from across the room. In his mind, D.O. says that they should talk about what happened yesterday, but in Yeon Hee’s mind, she is thinking if D.O. is planning to rehearse his lines with her because she prepared for it. In her mind she recites, “Don’t come closer.”

D.O. makes up his mind to approach Yeon Hee to say something but Yeon Hee thinks that he is going to recite his lines. As he is about to say something, Yeon Hee ends up screaming, “Don’t come closer” at him and holds him off with her duster, but ends up being a bit flustered and tells him that it just came out. She hears her name being called by Chanyeol, and she responds that she’s coming. She hurriedly ends up handing D.O. the duster and exits the room. D.O. just has a blank expression on his face with the duster in hand as Yeon Hee rushes off.

Chanyeol scolds her about the amount of dust still in his room and says that he’s been allergic to dust since he was six. Yeon Hee isn’t really listening to what Chanyeol is saying and just thinks he’s nagging. He then talks about how he listened to H.O.T’s songs when he was six and complained to her about throwing out his papers and relates it back to when he was six. He tells her that when he was six, he wore white t-shirts, overalls, and berets and enjoyed playing tag.

Yeon Hee gets a look of realization on her face, and Chanyeol smiles thinking that she has now remembered him since he has been trying to jog her memory. However, all Yeon Hee is thinking is that he’s been really good since he was little. She just bows to him and says she’ll do better, which makes Chanyeol disappointed as he asks if that’s all she has to say.

Yeon Hee thinks again and unaware of what Chanyeol wants her to say or recall, she just says that she will try to be a more professional cleaning person. Yeon Hee says she should go since the laundry is done, but Chanyeol prevents her from leaving by sticking out his arm right in front of her and traps her between him and the wall. He then asks her if she is really that dense.

Back at home, Yeon Hee keeps thinking about why everyone has been saying that she is so dense but is unable to come up with the reason. Her friend Gaeun tells her that it is because she hasn’t joined their fanclub, EXO-L. Gaeun says that by not doing so after being so close to them, she has insulted them. This causes Yeon Hee to go on her phone in order to join the fanclub.

Meanwhile, Sehun and Yeon Hee’s brother are hanging out, when Sehun discovers an interesting book and then a childhood photo on the inside. He sees Yeon Hee’s brother in the picture, realizes that the little girl must be Yeon Hee, and then recognizes the other boy in the picture on the far left. Sehun smiles to himself at the discovery and asks Yeon Hee’s brother if he can borrow the picture for a little while. He agrees, and back at the EXO house, Sehun approaches D.O. to share what he found.

Sehun shows him the picture to take a look at and D.O. asks if the little girl is Yeon Hee. Sehun tells D.O. that he has a keen eye and D.O. smiles at the photo while commenting that she was cute when she was little too. Sehun dismisses the comment and tells D.O. to focus on the boy on the left. D.O.’s smile disappears and Sehun asks him if he recognizes the boy. D.O. asks if it is Chanyeol and Sehun confirms that it is.
