[Drama Recap] Heard It Through the Grapevine: Episode 30 (Final)

Secretary Min had an accident due to immense exercising and she has already submitted her letter of resignation, but she won’t be working for attorney Yoo’s newly found law office. She’s already done with her moral obligations towards the team she was working with and she lets attorney Han know that he will find himself in a pretty uncomfortable situation. Her last gift is an opportunity to get out of the prison he built himself for himself alone and she lets him know that In Sang won’t return since he intends to get out of attorney Han’s shadow. Secretary Yang’s quite enraged for someone who’s not wielding utter power! Attorney Han thinks that secretary Min’s faction will move on with a class action which will result in damaging severely Hansong’s reputation.

Secretary Lee has already interviewed the people willing to become her successors and she will let them know soon enough her decision, there’s even a stipend for getting interviewed! Can I get interviewed every day and receive a stipend? Secretary Lee thinks that madame Choi’s moving in the shadows with the whole interview process in order to reject her resignation, but madame Choi points out various reasons why she doesn’t want to hire some of the people who appeared in front of her. The conversation isn’t over, but Ji Young Ra and Eom So Jeong’s appearance paused it for the time being. Since she didn’t reply to their calls they took the situation in their own hands in order to find out more information about what’s going on inside the almighty household with In Sang being the major topic of discussion!

 

Madame Choi says that she was the one to let him go for the time being as an ode to older days’ traditions when a new husband used to spend some time with his wife’s family! Of course, both of them are aware of the truth and you can sense their irony amidst madame Choi’s failures to infuse a deeper meaning to everything going on! Ji Young Ra disapproves of her “decision” to let In Sang dwell in a commoner’s lifestyle whereas So Jeong points out that he might be more comfortable with Seo Bom’s parents! As for the people they witnessed while entering the almighty household it’s because she’s thinking of changing the house personnel! Secretary Lee’s thoughts are so spot on how shameless madame Choi and attorney Han can be, they can never get enough of embarrassing themselves in front of everyone, but that’s what keeps their friendships alive according to the housemaid! Since all interviewees got rejected with mere excuses she will have to set a timeline, she can’t stay there forever!

Teacher Park messages In Sang in order to find out if the young couple made a decision when it comes to their studies. In Sang will take his books at work in an attempt to study, but Seo Bom lets him know that the night will be tough since many shipments will arrive. She doesn’t want him to exhaust himself since he intends to dive way too much in an overburdened schedule. In Sang lets Seo Bom know of teacher Park’s message, but she thinks it’s going to be too tough for both of them to study for the bar exam, especially since they’re working at the same time. Under these circumstances it’s Seo Bom the who should be studying, but she thought that the rock-paper-scissors decision was a joke between them! Except for that, In Sang still considers she’s got more potential in passing the exam, but Seo Bom doesn’t quite agree, even if she studies she wouldn’t feel comfortable doing it. Slight tension rises and Jin Ae ahjumma alongside Hyeong Shik ahjussi have already noticed that something’s not flowing well!

Seo Bom tells him that he ran away from the almighty household in order to start anew under different parameters and perspectives, but she feels pressured every time he’s urging her to study for the bar exam. In Sang doesn’t want to be someone who ran away from home and except for his own future he blocked his wife’s too. Jin Ae ahjumma and Noo Ri are eavesdropping their conversation! They start their conversation anew from the top of the hill, first of all they must find out if they want to pass the bar exam and if it’s really their life goal since the parameters are different now. Back then they wanted to earn the trust of In Sang’s parents and passing the bar exam was the only way to become a part of their world. The circumstances have changed now and they’ll talk about it via messages! Seo Bom wonders if In Sang wants her to study for the exam without any specific goal because he’s going through all these struggles because of her, but he never said he’s going through hardships because of her and she’s the one who agreed in the first place with everything teacher Park said in order to improve their lives!

Exchanging stares while writing to each other was priceless, Seo Bom has a lethal stare and she points out that she didn’t simply agree and one reason why they shouldn’t do it was if they only did it in order to show off to their parents! The conversation gradually loses its arch meaning and it becomes one of these nonsensical couple quarrels when everything pops up to the surface! If In Sang doesn’t find it wrong to show off a bit then he should be the one to pass the exam and even win his parents’ trust anew! As for returning back to the almighty household, he’s the one who knows the answer better than anyone else! In Sang decides to leave for the time being and finds Jin Ae ahjumma and Noo Ri out of their room while Seo Bom remains at the corner of the bed like an adorable lethal squirrel!

The house personnel and teacher Park have gathered at secretary Lee’s house and the housemaid has to go through many interviews in the morning, but secretary Lee’s afraid they will end up staying at the almighty household forever! Butler Park and the housemaid intend to open up a restaurant and teacher Park points out he wants both In Sang and Seo Bom to continue their studies, if they don’t they will lose their last opportunity! Teacher Park has saved a more than welcome amount of money, but he wasn’t pretty clear with what he has in mind for both of them, he waits for them until they present a clear reason for wanting to sit for the bar exam. Since they’re going through a tough period butler Park thinks that it would be best for everyone if teacher Park showed them directly his unconditional support in order to motivate them even further. If attorney Han finds out that In Sang will be continuing his studies under teacher Park’s support he’s going to burst like a hot-air balloon!

In Sang’s working at the convenience store and their previous quarrel echoes once again in his mind. Seo Bom isn’t at her finest either since they exchanged tough words under tough circumstances! Yi Ji’s aware that secretary Min resigned but madame Choi doesn’t want Yi Ji to keep talking about her with attorney Han adding that her way of thinking is problematic and even though she worked for him throughout the years it was a mistaken decision since the very beginning. Their eyes aren’t perfect in order to notice what everyone may be hiding in his/her brain and another example has to be teacher Park. The real problem is the fact that all of them are on the same side and they come from the same kind; cancerous beings! Yi Ji’s definitely disgusted with her parents’ way of thinking!

She wanted to contact her brother, but since he forgot his cellphone at home Yi Ji informs Seo Bom on the latest events and her father’s thoughts, apparently everyone is wrong except for attorney Han and madame Choi since they come from a higher breed! At that point Seo Bom informs Yi Ji that she had a fight with In Sang, it was one of these moments when fights occur when both of them feel sorry for each other and she’s going to apologize later on. Yi Ji informs Seo Bom that attorney Han thinks that teacher Park is influencing them and lets her know that she’s worried about everyone since his father talks this way about them. Seo Bom’s lost in her own thoughts, but she’s not the only one, it’s one of these rare moments when someone else’s words echo in attorney Han’s mind and apparently secretary Min’s warning had an impact on him, especially now that everyone, one after the other, leaves the almighty household. The echo of the words gets multiplied inside all this emptiness.

In Sang returns back home physically and emotionally exhausted and Jin Ae ahjumma lets him know that Seo Bom fell asleep early in the morning. Even though she’s tired she wants to talk to In Sang right now and she lets him know that she talked to Yi Ji and received information concerning teacher Park, but In Sang is one step ahead since teacher Park passed by the convenience store. In Sang told him they’ll do it together. At the new office, Attorney Yoo asks teacher Park to wear something different and he’s considering it! As for the salary, of course they are aware that he has some money and Je Hoon had asked him a question during one of his lectures back in 2009: it’s a private market, but is it ethical for him to earn so much money by teaching kids? Teacher Park wants to get paid the minimym wage while working there and both attorney Yoo and Je Hoon appreciate his decision!

Secretary Yang thinks that Hansong should expand its corporate social responsibility program while detaching it from Hansong and turning it into a separate foundation. Attorney Han meets right away with Dae Hyun and he wants him to fulfill this plan and the fund will be administered only with his final approval. In addition, he can change the program if he wants to. Just like attorney Han, Dae Hyun will have someone else do the dirty business for him and in this occasion it will be his daughter-in-law. Attorney Han doesn’t quite like the idea, but he can’t do otherwise.

Teacher Park and secretary Lee arrive at the humble house and all of them become aware of his intentions to teach Seo Bom and In Sang for free, leaving Jin Ae ahjumma and Hyeong Shik ahjussi speechless! Teacher Park will provide them all the necessary space where they can live and study and a big plus is that the apartment’s nearby! Everyone’s more than happy and quite thankful towards them, but the ones to be thankful are teacher Park and secretary Lee since Seo Bom and In Sang through their interactions changed them towards a more than welcome direction. In Sang’s parents aren’t aware of this yet, but soon they will find out and he’s curious to know what they would say, but In Sang is not alone in this emotionally fortified moment, he has many people caring about him, especially Seo Bom.

 

The interviews go on at the almighty household, but this one got delayed because In Sang and Seo Bom decided to appear. It’s been sometime since all four gathered at that living room were atrocious things happen! Both madame Choi and attorney Han have put on their clinical veil and the meeting takes place. The house personnel is nervous and they can’t wait to find out the outcome of this conversation since pretty much anything could happen after all this time of absence! In Sang and Seo Bom let them know of teacher Park’s personal scholarship under very specific stipulations. The first one is for In Sang to give up his inheritance and the second one is if they fail to pass the bar exam and they still want to become lawyers they will attend law school. Neither madame Choi nor attorney Han are pleased and he points out that everything that’s sufficient for others is not good enough for those two! In Sang says that teacher Park wants them to escape this kind of pressure and the third stipulation is if they pass the exam with high honors they will never work at a place like Hansong. The almighty couple starts spitting their poison upon teacher Park whom according to attorney Han got rich from poor families’ money while teaching their children and he wonders whether they want to study and raise Jin Young with such money! Seo Bom points out that he’s supporting them because the government is incapable of doing so! Don’t you dare use the word “hubris” because nemesis awaits for you in the corner, attorney Han!

Now that they have a crystal clear goal they intend to do their best in order to pass the exam no matter how hard it may be. In Sang is neither an heir nor a kid, choosing a different path from the one his father walked upon is his very own decision. Madame Choi can’t hold back her tears and leaves immediately the living room and shortly after attorney Han follows her. It’s been some time since we witnessed attorney Han’s scepter of ultimate power, its glory has faded! In Sang witnesses his mother crying and gives her a heartfelt hug letting her know that she can visit them anytime she wants to, but she doesn’t want to. Still, if she changes her mind she can always pass by. Attorney Han stands like he got mummified while he was wielding the last scepter of his dynasty! Both of them greet him and he tells them that they had been brainwashed, but In Sang lets him know that it was a decision they made on their own since the stipulations were to their liking. The whole South Korea sensed attorney Han’s wrath who pretty much broke everything that could get broken while wielding his scepter!

Seo Bom and In Sang have arrived at their new apartment and they’re filling their library! All the beautiful people have gathered to help them in their new beginning! Butler Park and the housemaid will be living on another floor; In Sang and Seo Bom will always have a chance to eat something! Secretary Lee wants to know how to take care of the baby in order to start working as a babysitter and Jin Young will be an open book to her while Jin Ae ahjumma can finally rest for a while! Hyeong Shik ahjussy will be arriving soon and later on Cheol Shik ahjussi and Noo Ri will pay them a visit! All these people who used to work at the almighty household remind In Sang of his parents!

Madame Choi doesn’t like the new employees and she wants to escape using their villa in Hannam-dong for shelter! Attorney Han won’t let her since they have more serious problems! Yi Ji has applied to go study abroad and she’ll attend a college there as well. Attorney Han can’t do otherwise but let her go, he lost once child already, he can’t afford to lose Yi Ji too.

The housemaid, butler Park and secretary Lee are in a like-minded mood as In Sang since their new apartment with all these people brought back memories of their time back in the almighty household, but teacher Park receives different vibes and the kids themselves feel differently by now! He sets the rules! In Sang won’t be coming back home before six, he will be studying at school until then since Seo Bom was left behind and needs some time to study alone. In ten days they will sit for another mock exam that will define the flow of his strategy. If they don’t succeed in the bar exam nothing is lost, there’s always the law school waiting for them! Concerning Seo Bom’s bachelor’s degree certificate she will have to take the first level test. Even though both of them wasted a month and they didn’t move on with their studies it was definitely worth it so they shouldn’t regret it even if it had its own impact upon their studying process.

Je Hoon’s at the humble house and Hyeong Shik ahjussi still can’t believe that things have started flowing well, it’s almost a dreamlike condition! They didn’t expect teacher Park to help them out that much to the point of being unconditional. Je Hoon was one of his students, one of those he wouldn’t forget since he made some noise when he told him about the amount of money he makes. At that time many of his colleagues were working secretly as tutors! It’s only illegal if you get caught, if you don’t get caught it’s only a habit! Noo Ri wonders whether Je Hoon ever did it or not, but he was too scared to proceed in the first place! Jin Ae ahjumma would like to partake in the conversation, but she has to take care of Jin Young! As for Noo Ri meeting Je Hoon’s parents it’s getting delayed since she likes the way they are now and Je Hoon points out that she’s hesitant because his salary is too low! Cheol Shik ahjussi takes Je hoon’s side, he might not be making that much money at this very moment, but he’s not one of Hansong’s slaves, it’s something that makes life more carefree and exciting at the same time despite the low salary! Noo Ri’s worried that he might force that lifestyle on her too! Hyeong Shik ahjussi points out that if they really love each other they shouldn’t be worrying that much about the salaries and Noo Ri can’t help it but feel quite guilty at that moment! All Je Hoon and Noo Ri want is time to take care of everything by themselves!

 

Secretary Kim’s father appeared at Hansong and wants to talk to him since he couldn’t get in touch with his son who’s quite busy as an attorney in top secret cases! Attorney Han appears and refers to secretary Kim as attorney Kim to maintain his lies, so he must repay attorney Han’s generosity in the future according to secretary Yang! Everything went fine and secretary Kim’s father is more than pleased! Secretary Kim’s aware that attorney Han will use his weakness to the fullest, even against him if he has to. He’s worked enough for Hansong to know pretty well how manipulative attorney Han is and he intends to tell the truth to his father and eventually resign. He wants secretary Yang to bid attorney Han farewell for him.

Attorney Han can’t believe that the most unexpected and most stupid of all just resigned, but why does he feel so empty? I guess that was a rhetoric question! Je Hoon arrives at the office and finds out that secretary Kim has arrived and they can’t act otherwise but accept him! Secretary Kim will be the one to meet the high officials once they require information since they don’t have the same power Hansong possesses! They’re almost a branch of Hansong, the only person missing for the time being is secretary Min who returned back to her hometown and secretary Kim can’t hide his feelings! Cheol Shik ahjussi will go to the hometown of a friend and he doesn’t reveal the truth to his brother! But he understands more than he appears to be and urges him to stay there with her if possible!

The training for the new secretaries has began and they actually have more people than they need, secretary Yang will pick up the chosen ones and attorney Han will progress the most important interview part. Attorney Han points out that he can’t afford to lose her too, but he can’t overlook the Han Trust matter since it’s involved in pretty much everything and her brother must take the blame for misappropriation and embezzlement of the funds. Why aren’t you laughing now secretary Yang? How does the lonely and dark office feel like?

At their new office attorney Yoo points out that the brothers of secretaries Min & Yang have different fates, the second one will go to jail due to his sister’s wrongdoings and the first one will be able to clear his name. Secretary Yang would never go to jail since attorney Han needs her by his side. Teacher Park points out that there should some shady negotiations since he heard that secretary Yang feels like resigning as well. Je Hoon thinks that her brother will get a suspended sentence whereas secretary Yang will keep the money but will get exiled forever, after all she’s the one who knows the most about attorney Han’s own wrongdoings! They have already started taking into consideration making secretary Yang to join their ranks!

What a great building with all these beautiful people inside it! Everyone’s heading towards his/her own destination. It’s secretary Lee’s next lesson on how to make baby food and Seo Bom will keep up with her studies. Secretary Yang suddenly finds herself inside a car consisting of the housemaid, butler Park, Cheol Shik ahjussi and secretary Min and she’s quite surprised, especially with the last two! Everyone’s quite happy except for secretary Yang who’s found herself in quite an awkward situation! Another gathering’s taking place at the humble house and the fact that secretary Yang’s negotiations didn’t work out exploded like a bomb to Hyeong Shik ahjussi’s ears, just like Je Hoon and attorney Yoo’s attempts were futile even though they possessed tremendous amounts of evidence.

Secretary Yang’s inside Seo Bom’s room with secretary Min and Jin Ae ahjumma brought them some food. Secretary Yang’s glad to see that everyone’s happy! Attorney Han has called Je Hoon at Hansong’s luxurious lounge, he doesn’t want him to involve secretary Yang, but Je Hoon points out the decision is up to her. Attorney Han thinks that Je Hoon’s wishes won’t turn to life. Secretary Yang thinks that secretary Min’s brother’s case will be accomplished. Secretary Min points out that it’s not only about her brother and secretary Yang thinks that she’s already won after uttering these words. Secretary Min points out that Secretary Yang is alone in her own case, unlike secretary Min who always had people by her side; it’s not too late. Secretary Lee enters the conversation and lets secretary Yang know that this may be her last chance to make things right, but there’s no guarantee her brother will be saved. Secretary Lee intends to set aside the past they shared and start anew. Secretary Yang tells her that she’ll take care of it leaving everyone wondering what could this mean.

The three hyenas have gathered at president Song’s luxurious living room and Je Hoon’s there as well. President Song thinks that he’s inciting young kids, but Je Hoon tends to differ. Ji Young Ra points out that Hyeon Soo is not interested in such matters and Eom So Jeong agrees on Min Jae’s behalf. Both of them are staring at madame Choi as if In Sang had been a bad influence and that’s what they actually think! The number of the plaintiffs is quite interesting and Ji Young Ra and Eom So Jeong call right away their children but they don’t even have the time to discuss it even over the phone! Min Jae will be an intern at the new office and even though he doesn’t see a future in this he likes his working environment! Teacher Park wants him to talk to his mother so that he won’t have to answer to her raging phone calls, but Min Jae received a message from her letting him know that she arranged another internship for him!

Attorney Han’s at Hansong’s luxurious lounge and even though he puts his generous mask on in front of others, it doesn’t quite feel the same at this very moment. Yi Ji will be leaving to study abroad and she’s with Hyeon Soo waiting for Seo Bom and In Sang at the airport! In Sang wants to talk to Yi Ji and leaves Seo Bom with Hyeon Soo in their own moment of awkwardness! Madame Choi is neither negative nor positive with Yi Ji studying abroad, but attorney Han’s definitely negative even at this very moment. In Sang points out that the almighty household has nothing to do with their family, it’s not even their own, their grandmother bought it and brought it to Seoul, it’s not like their ancestors used to live in there! They are concerned about their family, they will be all alone in there surrounded by strangers, it’s not going to be awesome!

Hyeon Soo envies Seo Bom for looking good in any pair of shoes, then she hides them right away, but  she’s thankful towards her parents for her feet and she thinks that Hyeon Soo’s feet look good too! During awkward moments people talk about simply whatever! Seo Bom’s relieved to see her mother feeling better, as for Hyeon Soo, she doesn’t want to spent her entire life by her mother’s side and she wants to start dating someone! The moment for Yi Ji to leave has arrived and she hugs Seo Bom who eventually hugs Hyeon Soo as well, I love their quirky sense of slight friendship!

Secretary Lee keeps learning the art of babysitting and these three ahjummas are so awesome together! In Sang has returned back home and it’s time to eat and go back to his studying duties! Later on that night all the crazy ahjummas and ahjussis have gathered at the humble house and it’s a playful hell on earth! Am i asking too much by saying that I would like to be at the same table drinking and having fun with all of them?! In Sang and Seo Bom went pretty well at the mock exam and they have raised their scores even though they are far from perfect! Everyone’s drunken and crazy applauding the young couple while Hyeong Shik ahjussi considers teacher Park a god among mortals! What a great company all of them are! It’s time for In Sang and Seo Bom to express their love towards Jin Young and what a cute scene it is, full of affection and cheerful laughter!

 

Madame Choi needs to travel a bit and attorney Han wonders whether she’ll come back or not; maybe! Later on that night Attorney Han returned back to the almighty household with his new assistant and the new house personnel greets him! A new era of decay has began, attorney Han will remain in history as King Jeongho the Lonely!
