[Drama Recap] EXO Next Door : Episode 2

Okay, I’m back with Episode 2. Not sure if I would continue recapping or doing discussions on this – it depends really.

In this episode, the story is set in place and they drop us some juicy information. Okay – I would be writing up the thoughts & discussion later on, the recap comes first.


EPISODE 2

We start off with a little rewind – back to when the boys moved in. They go ‘wooo’ and ‘ahhh’ when they entered, satisfied with the house.
The nicest room goes to Chanyeol andthe second nicest goes to D.O.

The members are satisfied with the place and asks Chanyeol if it’s really his grandfather’s place as it looks brand new. He mentions that his parents fixed the place up and he used to play here when he was younger. Sehun complains about not having a bed, and the others tell him to just bear with it for a day.

While the members are sound asleep, Chanyeol goes over to a wooden chair and ‘greets’ his grandfather.

Chanyeol and D.O wakes Sehun and Baekhyun up, and all of them smell something nice. So…..
They followed the smell.

Which brings us back to the ending of episode 1.
So Chanyeol walks in first, followed by the rest and asked who is she before getting spit at. 
The others laughed as they try to calm Chanyeol down, while Yeon Hee stood there, shocked that her neighbors are really exo. 
She tells them that her mom ask to bring over some rice cakes to the neighbors and hesitates if she should help but ended up leaving quickly. 
Baekhyun comments that she’s really something.

Yeon Hee runs home, embarrassed. She calls her friend and tells her that exo lives next door.

So she ended up stalking the boys and when her friend came,

They continue stalking while commenting how perfect the members are. Yeon Hee remembers that she had embarrassed herself earlier but that’s that – and since she’s already doing this, she’s going to do it 24 hours.Look at those snacks!

Yeon Hee’s mother came in the room and asked the friend if she’s not going home and if her parents are not worried. Her friend leaves for the night. Yeon Hee asks her mom why she keep giving things to the neighbor and if she knows what they do as a profession as she wouldn’t let anyone in Chan’s grandfather’s house. Her mom says that no one write their jobs on lease agreement and she doesn’t know.

The members video call with Kai and asks if he has met his parents and if there are pretty girls there.

After chatting, Sehun notices that Yeon Hee is spying at them.
Baekhyun says that he didn’t thought she would be this way and asks Sehun if they should play a trick on her.

Sehun agrees and they ask D.O, who ignores them.

They decide to go ahead with the trick and….
Yeon Hee is shocked as she didn’t expected that to happen.

D.O kicks them and tell them to stop, while they ask D.O to quickly close the curtains.

Chanyeol, on the other hand, was looking from the second story.

D.O closes the curtain and waves at Yeon Hee. She quickly hides and asked herself if she just got caught.

Kyungsoo asks Chanyeol why he asked them to come to this house and isn’t there a special reason why.

Chanyeol says that he lost something here.
A really important thing.

THOUGHTS & DISCUSSION
Okay, first of all – I thought the webdrama would be cringe-worthy, but honestly, it was much better than what I had expected. I’m actually impressed that the first two episodes had a pretty good story line so far. It was smooth and it’s pretty interesting.

We know a little bit more about Chanyeol. He used to come over to play when he was younger – and most likely he and Yeon Hee knew each other when they were kids. Yeon Hee mentioned to her mom as Chan’s grandfather’s house – which means they probably knew each other.

One weird thing though – her mom seems weird when Yeon Hee asked that question. I can’t tell if she really don’t know who moved in, or is she trying to hide something? But why?

Chanyeol mentioned that he lost something important – what? Could it be Yeon Hee? Or could it be something belonging to Chanyeol which Yeon Hee lost when they were playmates?

We didn’t get much on the other members yet – but we know Baekhyun and Sehun are mischievous and D.O is kind enough to wave at Yeon Hee – so that she knows they know she is there.
I’m a little confused though, because initially I thought Baekhyun and Chanyeol are best friends – but seriously in this two episodes, I don’t see best friends anywhere. Hah. Even the second nicest room, Chanyeol say it’s D.O’s. But oh well – it doesn’t really matter to me, and there are many more episodes to go.

As for acting wise, I feel awkward watching Chanyeol act so serious (mostly because he is cheerful and playful in reality), and Kyungsoo so friendly (because he’s so quiet in reality) – but that’s because I’m a fan, so I feel awkward. Sehun and Baekhyun looks like they are acting their normal self. Hah.

I won’t be able to judge their acting since I might be bias – but honestly though, I think it’s pretty alright? Considering that it’s a web-drama, and they don’t have much experience in acting, so I think it’s watchable so far. Of course, there are many more episodes to go and judgement for acting can come in later after more episodes and when the characters are more developed.

Anyway – for non-fans, maybe you might want to try it out? Or perhaps you can wait a while for more episodes and see the reviews to decide if you should watch it. I think it’s not too bad, even for non-fans to watch. It seems like it would have a pretty good story, but then again, it seems like – so it’s not definite.
