In-ho (played by Seo Kang-joon) is the last central character in "Cheese in the Trap",
and like the other characters in this drama In-ho struggles to serve
any particularly obvious purpose in the story. This is mostly because "Cheese in the Trap"
is quite light in the story department, something I appreciate much
better now having read the first few chapters of the webtoon. One
interesting change I've noticed- in the webtoon, Jeong is noticably less
creepy and suspicious. At the beginning anyway.
This much is significant because as we see this episode, Jeong's behavior is constantly vacillating. First he was aggressively pursuant with Seol, then he was aggressively nice with Seol, and now he seems to be ignoring her completely. And credit given where it's due- I don't have the slightest idea whether this is some kind of elaborate scheme or if Jeong just does what he does. Actor Park Hae-jin is not a man with whom I would want to play poker.
So let's ignore the unknown variables and focus on what little plot there is this episode- the big group project. Did anyone actually like group projects in college? For me, it always seemed like I was doing my part of the work without having any idea what the rest of the group was doing. Fortunately I'm a decent public speaker so we always got an above average grade but is that really even fair? That we did well not because I was smart but because I knew how to work a crowd?
That's the dilemma Seol is stuck with here. "Cheese in the Trap" certainly knows its background elements. Granted my university years were a decade ago so maybe college life has changed since then but honestly? That time is a haze for me much in the same way it's presented as a haze in "Cheese in the Trap". Not because of the booze (I didn't drink) but because nothing of importance is happening except the petty stuff.
"Cheese in the Trap" is a weird drama in that I kind of like it but it doesn't really sound that good in description- as of yet there's not much material in the way of critical analysis. Well, there's one part I can easily praise- Hwang Seok-jeong. She's the professor here, and was also the chief editor in "She Was Pretty". Now there's a character actor who brightens up every scene she's in.
