On the twenty-fourth episode of the KBS 2TV drama "The Merchant: Gaekju 2015", Jo So-sa made a deal with Sin Seok-joo (Lee Deok-hwa).
Cheon Bong-sam was captured in prison because he was framed for something Sin Seok-joo did. Jo So-sa, in tears, begged Mae-wol (Kim Min-jeong) to let the deceased baby say goodbye to his father. Mae-wol didn't seem willing but arranged for them to meet to save Cheon Bong-sam.
They reunited in the cell. Jo So-sa was terrified at how badly beaten and hurt he was from all the tortures. When she returned home, she gave Sin Seok-joo a rope and said, "Save three lives or kill us all".
Sin Seok-joo promised to keep Cheon Bong-sam alive but he secretly ordered a secret place to kill him. However, Cheon Bong-sam was safely freed. Those at Songpa knew what Sin Seok-joo was going to do and switched locations without him knowing.
Cheon Bong-sam declared war with Sin Seok-joo.
