"Master - God of Noodles" Episode 16 recap

Everyone is being pushed to their limits or fully over the edge in episode sixteen of "Master - God of Noodles". The battle between Congressman So and Gil-do runs much deeper than we knew, our heroes' morality is breaking and the dark side is calling. Gil-do's world has collapsed and the monster he has been keeping in check is out. People are about to suffer or even die and no one is in a condition to protect the innocent ones.
I have been looking forward to the revelation over the death of Yeo-gyeong's (Jeong Yoo-mi) parents, but the writer still manages to surprise me with her father's possible relations to Gil-do (Jo Jae-hyeon). I understand that So Tae-seop (Kim Byeong-gi) could be lying, but he seems like the kind who knows when he needs to spill the beans. Whether her father being Gil-do's puppet is true or not Gil-do had much to gain from being the sole holder of the Congressman's secret, and therefore the killer.
Yeo-gyeongMyeong
This is what makes Yeo-gyeong's acceptance of his bribe and her emotional breakdown so very sad. She receives information which might very well be false from someone she should know better than to trust. At the same time, her wavering is the expected result of the makeshift family splitting up. Myeong's (Cheon Jeong-myeong) trauma is catching up to him because he pushes everyone away, Yeo-gyeong's is catching up because everyone pushes her away.
The timing of these crises is bad, as Gil-do's own composure is hanging by a thread. I have said before that Gil-do is in some ways too naive and trusting. This humanizes him, because even a beast will lean on those they look down on during moments of weakness. He believes he is valuable to Da-hae (Gong Seung-yeon) and sees himself in Tae-ha (Lee Sang-yeob). His hinted disappointment over his lack of humanity makes him pitiful, but all the more dangerous.
Do-kkooGil-do
The question now is, will he kill Do-kkoo (Jo Hee-bong) and possibly hurt Da-hae if he deems it necessary? I have been expecting Do-kkoo's demise since we met him, but it was a jarring change to see him pushed aside for the sake of Da-hae and Tae-ha's screen time and romance. I feel his role had potential not fully realized. The creators have clearly changed some characters' level of involvement since the beginning of the series.
That being said, it is admirable of the writer to give these characters a reasonable exit or keep them around and find some use for them as he did with chef Lee Gi-baek (Cha Do-jin) and Gil-yong (Kim Jae-young) respectively. Now that Gil-do has nearly lost his noodle, I expect more character exits and untimely deaths. I am not emotionally prepared for it.
"Master - God of Noodles" is directed by Kim Jong-yeon and Lim Se-joon, written by Chae Seung-dae and features Cheon Jeong-myeong, Jo Jae-hyeon, Jeong Yoo-mi and Lee Sang-yeob.
