Kim Woo-bin and Suzy to couple up in new romance drama

The new project is called Lightly, Ardently, a (working) title that’s meant to be contradictory; the first word speaks of a thoughtless kind of love, while the second suggests deeply emotional.

The drama tells the story of a couple who were painfully separated in an ill-fated relationship, who meet again later as total opposites, one as a haughty superstar and the other as a documentary PD. I have no trouble imagining Kim Woo-bin as a Hallyu singer-actor megastar, with a sharp brain and ultra-cynical personality.

Suzy will be attempting an image transformation (let’s all cross our fingers on this one), going from innocent and sweet to an extremely servile, feeble, but also materialistic character who has no pride when it comes to money. That’s quite the mix of traits, but sounds like it’ll make for an interesting character. The romance will start off prickly but develop into a more ardent connection, and knowing writer Lee, the developing melo will be sure to tug, if not break, our hearts.

It’s true that Lee’s most recent drama, weekend family series Wonderful Season, wasn’t quite as successful as her others, though she’s done much better in the miniseries melodrama format (her bread and butter, really). There’s still lots of time to see how this one develops, since the casting has been confirmed pretty early in the process; Lightly, Ardently is being planned for a 2016 airdate.

[Drama Recap] Koinaka: Episodes 3-4

On episode three, Aoi and Akari make up for the time they were apart. It was really nice, since I understand and I have felt it too, when you get back with a friend and it feels like all this time you lost didn’t get in your way and you can go back to where you were. That is why they start being the usual Aoi and Akari, fighting over everything and having this refreshing childhood friendship.
Of course that means their feeling for each other, are coming back. Evil Aoi reveals in the fourth episode to Akari, he wanted her to meet with Aoi, because he wanted to reassure Akari would choose him over him. He really has issues. Are you dumb? What is exactly that you want to reassure? You steal Aoi’s manga with the letter, you have everything planned so you can meet Akari and get her to be your girlfriend. You know from the start she doesn’t loved you and that if you weren’t so evil to plan all this, she wouldn’t even look at you. What is exactly that you want to test? His inferiority shows once again, when he forces him self to Akari, after she is back from meeting with Aoi. But this time he goes even further, trying to get Akari’s father out of her life. He wants to isolate her and have her all to himself, that’s not love as he claims to Akari on episode four.
Fortunately his evil self gets revealed. That annoying college of his out of nowhere reveals everything to Akari about her father and that adds up to Akari finding the manga and the letter.
As usual for a jdrama they go on a summer barbeque.with Saeki’s car and at her house by the sea. All this happens because Kanazawa is in love with Aoi’s sister, Nanami and decides to become her pet.
Akari brings up the letter to Aoi, realises he never got it. When Aoi asks her what the letter wrote she says something random. Akari sees Aoi has moved on and it would be hard for everyone to bring up the past after so long. It makes sense how she decides not to say what the letter wrote.

**Won is pronounced as one and Hana means one. :)
Ha Ji Won is my favorite Korean actress. She has been very unique and different from other actresses so far thanks to her hard choices whenever she chooses work. She has a knack of choosing the right TV series (films excepted) and delivers outstanding performances.
The 37-year-old actress was perfect gisaeng (Korean geisha) on 'Hwang Jini' (2006, KBS) and an excellent stunt woman on 'Secret Garden'(2010, SBS), however, she is just pretty, good-looking, and beautiful this time.

[Drama Recap] Death Note: Episode 5

If I could give a title to this episode, I would name it “Misa loves Kira”. It’s mainly an episode that revolves around the relationship, between Misa and Light. They meet for the first time. Misa goes to his house knowing he is Kira, but Light finds out about Amane Misa being the second Kira at that moment. He is afraid that everything is gonna be revealed in front of the cameras, that she is not aware of, he kisses her to shut her mouth and not say anything that could help L solve the mystery. The kiss leaves a shocked L and a judgy detective Yagami.

The love, that only Misa gives continues throughout the episode. For once I would want to see a change. . I would like if the writers made Light more sensitive and actually showed some emotions. It would be nice if he cared about Misa and not just have her for his dirty work. But that doesn’t happen in this episode. He is the cruel Kira, who tells her that they might have to kill each other in case someone gets caught. All this because of “Kira’s dream” that Misa wants to follow. A friendly advice if someone starts running with your death note, the moment you decide to have a relationship, then he is not boyfriend material.

Misa inspires Light, when she says it is better for them to date in the open. He decides to act like he just found out about the cameras. L calls him and invites him to the investigation. Kira and L in the same room, cooperating to find Kira. Obviously L is not naive and everything he does, it’s on purpose. Keep your friends close and your enemies closer, L seems to be a fan of this saying.

That serves Light right. He can be close to L and make him meet Misa, who will find out his name with her shinigami eyes. He invites him to the concert. Misa has to find the guy dressed in white next to her boyfriend. But L has a surprise more than one person is dressed in white in the concert. That is a game he plays to test Light’s reaction who shows he is nervous. L says he hopes Light is not Kira, but his “I’ve won” look says otherwise. Misa left traces to the letter Light told her to sent and she gets arrested.

In this episode Near comes in town and the mystery man who is following the news appears again. For this round Light has been defeated and Misa, who is his advantage and disadvantage at the same time is a prisoner who can’t use her power against L.

I remember in the movies this was one of the most exciting parts. I didn’t follow the manga and anime to compare. But for the drama I’m excite to see how they are going to show it.

Hinako Sano had more chances to act in this episode and unlike others, I think her acting was pretty decent. Kento Yamazaki is improving too and Masataka Kubota keeps impressing me.
